With a career spanning 20 years in medical device research and development, Matt has acquired experience in a wide range of disciplines, including ophthalmology, injections, delivery devices, neurostimulation, surgical consoles, and more. Equipped with a strong technical foundation and a big-picture understanding of the industry, he excels in translating clients' visions into successful technical execution.
Matt has cultivated expertise in leading the early-stage development of complex products, bringing ideas from concept to reality through rapid iterative prototyping and a diverse range of fabrication methods. His capabilities extend to developing miniature mechanical assemblies, lens folders and inserters, electromechanical handpieces, pneumatically driven systems, injection-molded devices, and fluidic systems, among others. Notably, Matt's contributions are reflected in over two dozen patents and several current patent applications.
Matt holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from CalPoly, SLO, and a Master of Engineering in Bioengineering from UC San Diego. His educational background further strengthens his ability to navigate the complexities of the field, combining technical expertise with a strong understanding of the interplay between engineering, biology, and industry.
